How we started
In 2009, Touraj Rahimi noticed something: several of the most respected minds he knew — professors whose work shaped entire fields — were invisible online. Their research was cited in journals worldwide, but they had no website. No way for students, journalists, or peers to find them.
Those first clients included Vaclav Smil (opens in new tab), Immanuel Wallerstein (opens in new tab), Curt Wittig, and Janet Afary. We gave serious thinkers a clear, professional presence on the web. Some of those sites we still manage today — seventeen years later.
As word spread, small and mid-sized businesses started asking for the same kind of help: a website that communicates clearly, builds trust, and supports real goals. Olibro grew from serving academics to serving companies across healthcare, e-commerce, nonprofits, and professional services.
We stayed intentionally small so we could stay close to the work — and close to our clients. That belief hasn't changed since 2009. What changed is the tools.

In 2025, we changed
how this agency works.
We'd been experimenting with AI tools for a while, but in early 2025 we made a decision: stop experimenting and commit. Every workflow, every team member, every project — rebuilt around AI as a core capability, not an add-on.
Our designers now explore more directions before picking one. Our developers write code alongside AI that catches problems they'd miss at 2am. Our SEO team processes competitor analysis in hours, not weeks. Our content strategist produces research briefs that used to take days.
We didn't replace anyone. Every person on this team got significantly more capable. The tradeoff between "big agency with resources" and "small agency with attention" stopped existing for us.

Shopify expertise
E-commerce grows. Olibro becomes a dual-platform agency — WordPress for content-driven sites, Shopify for commerce — serving clients like Lista Cabinets and Music Plaza.
Clutch recognition
Named a Top Agency in Los Angeles (2018) and Top Shopify Developer (2019) by Clutch. Portfolio grows past 200 projects. Dr. Cat Plastic Surgery and MD Glam become flagship accounts.
